Lockdown: Level 3

In New Zealand we have just completed our first week of Level 3. Level 3 has meant that most people are to stay at home as much as possible. This has also meant that learning continues to happen at home.

During Distance Learning my school has been using lots of different strategies.

  1. Home Learning Packs delivered to home made up by the School
  2. Daily facebook posts of challenges
  3. Google Meets
  4. Students Blogging
  5. WPS Home Learning Site where there is a range of different activities for learners to do which all have multiple entry points
During Level 3 and 4 I have been able to track the Home Learning Site using the tool Google Analytics. I have found it very interesting. I wanted to give you all a bit of an overview.

From the 15th to 30th of April we have had 596 different users accessing the Home Learning Site. Each user is a different device and Google Analytics remembers who has been a new user or who has been a return user.

Of the 596 users they have completed 2209 sessions spending on average around four and a half minutes on each visit.

The most popular pages on the site have been Reading with 1029 clicks, then maths with 580 clicks and writing with 401 clicks.

The Most popular time has been between 10am and 2pm.

This is the data up to Thursday 30th April at 4pm.

Also from this it is important to remember out class blog.
On here we have had an amazing range of different learning happening. We have had pictures, movies, and stories to name a few.

During April we have had over 6000 views with 547 different comments.

I am really interested to see how this continues into the learning space once we return. The learners have had to problem solve and learn new tricks around getting things online and sharing with our community. It has also been great to see parents working with their learners around their learning.

What will this week of Level 3 look like?

  1. Kia ora Mark,
Thanks for sharing these stats with us, they are really interesting. In particular I find the time spent on the site is interesting - do you think that this is because students or parents are going on to find a particular resource/activity and then completing it offline? There are some amazing things being shared by your learners on the blog! I wonder if the engagement with the blog will stay high when we move forward to being on site again? It would be great if you could add the links to the blog and site you are talking about!
    Awesome stuff!

  2. Hey Kelsey
Yes it will be interesting to see what happens. I do hope that we will continue to have the growth when onsite again. The site is linked where it says Home Learning Site and the Blog. I might have to change the colour so it stands out more. Thanks for your comment
